Already a Hertz GoldTM member? Go to the Personal and Contact details section of your profile on Hertz.com and op in to receive Mobile Gold Alerts by email or SMS, or both.
Email alerts will be sent to the email address on your profile.
SMS alerts will be sent by text message to the mobile phone number on your profile.
Please note - that SMS alerts are only available to mobile phone numbers registered in the United States.

What happens on the day of rental?
As soon as you car is ready, we will send you a Mobile Gold Alert by email. The message will include the car we have chosen for you and the plate number. At large US airports, we will also tell you the stall number it is parked in, so you can go straight to your car and get on your way. At other Hertz locations, you need to pick up the keys and contract from a Hertz representative.
What happens on the day of rental?
As soon as your car is ready, we will send you a Mobile Gold Alert by either email or SMS (or both) depending on your profile selection. The message will include the car we have chosen for you and the plate number. At U.S. airports with Gold Boards, we will also tell you the stall number it is parked in, so you can go straight to your car and get on your way. At other Hertz locations, you need to pick up the keys and contract from a Hertz representative.
What if I want a different car?
We want you to have the best rental experience always. So if you would like a different car, you have two choices:
- Go to the Gold Choice* area and, if you have booked at least an intermediate or midsize car, you can pick from any of the available models or choose to upgrade to one of the specialty cars
- Ask a Hertz representative at the Gold VIP booth about available special offers

What if I am late?
If you are late or we need to change your car, we will send you a message to let you know. Just come straight to the Gold VIP booth when you arrive and we will get you on your way.
What if I don’t need the car anymore?
Just call the phone number in the message or click the link to Hertz.com to cancel the reservation. We appreciate you letting us know.
What happens if I don’t receive my Mobile Gold Alert?
Just check the Hertz GoldTM Board on arrival or step over to the Gold VIP booth. Also check that the email address and mobile phone number in your profile are up to date. For SMS Mobile Gold Alerts, you will need to respond to the Opt in Message (see details below) before you can start receiving them.
SMS Alerts terms and conditions
Please read the following information on our Hertz Mobile Alerts service by SMS:
SMS messages are distributed via third party mobile network providers and, as a result, Hertz cannot control certain factors relating to message delivery. Depending on the recipient's mobile provider service, it may not be possible to transmit the SMS message to the recipient successfully.
Hertz does not claim or guarentee availability or performance of this service, including liability for transmission delays or message failures.
Up to four messages per transaction will be sent.
To opt-in to Hertz Mobile Gold Alerts SMS Text Messaging, go to the Personal and Contacts section of your Hertz GoldTM profile at Hertz.com. Please ensure that you have provided a U.S. mobile phone number. Check the SMS Text Messaging option and save your settings.
You will receive a confirmation SMS from Hertz. In order to receive Mobile Gold Alerts by SMS you must respond to this message one time.
You will be able to view the status of your Mobile Gold Alerts on the Personal and Contacts section of your Hertz GoldTM profile.
If your status is "Awaiting Confirmation", you can request a new SMS opt in message to be sent to which you must reply.
Change of mobile phone number
If you choose to change the mobile phone number on your Hertz GoldTM profile, you will need to opt in and respond to the SMS opt in message again. If you change the mobile phone number to a non-U.S. number you will automatically to opted out of receiving Mobile Gold Alerts by SMS.
You may opt-out of receiving SMS messages by managing the Mobile Gold Alerts section of your Hertz Gold profileTM at Hertz.com. Simply uncheck the Mobile Gold Alerts SMS option and Save your settings. A confirmation SMS will be sent. You will no longer receive SMS Text Messaging from Hertz unless you Opt in again.
You may also Opt-out by text messaging the letters STOP in response to any Mobile Gold Alert SMS you receive from Hertz from your mobile device.
Hertz does not charge a fee for this service. However, message and data rates may apply. It is the user's responsibility to check with their individual carrier, as other charges may apply. Hertz assumes no responsibility for charges incurred by signing up for this text-messaging service. Any text-messaging fees that you incur will be billed on your individual wireless bill.
Please note: if you are using a free SMS service that utilizes a proxy number other than your regular cell phone number, our messages will only be directed to your regular cell number and may therefore incur costs.
